Summer care: plenty of fruit and water
Hot, humid summers drain a child’s energy and fluids quickly.
Beat the heat
- Offer water and fluids often, even before the child asks.
- Plenty of seasonal fruit — watermelon, mango, cucumber.
- Light cotton clothes and regular baths.
- Avoid the strongest midday sun.
Watch for warning signs of dehydration — dry mouth, no urine for several hours, or unusual drowsiness.
