Hand washing prevents pneumonia and diarrhoea

Simple hand washing with soap prevents two of the biggest threats to children — diarrhoea and pneumonia.

Wash hands at these times

  • Before eating or preparing food.
  • After using the toilet or changing a nappy.
  • After play, and after coming home.

Scrub all surfaces for 20 seconds — palms, backs, between fingers and under nails — then rinse. Teaching this one habit early protects your child for life.
